Ojai Valley Museum of History and Art: A Visit to Simpler Times and Places

IMG_3227During a September weekend stay in the Oxnard/Camarillo area I had a sudden urge to take off and explore the town of Ojai. Oh what a fun afternoon it turned out to be! Though it’s worth mentioning that I went from 72 to 97 degrees in the short drive over, it was still such a treat to spend a few hours in the quaint, laid back little mountain town of Ojai. Stopped in to the museum (old Church) and had such a lovely little chat with the docent. The museum has loads of easily digestible history on Ojai, some neat artifacts, old photos,

a small but nicely done diorama and an additional wing with personal art collections (my favorite was Disney OF COURSE!). Spent the rest of my day strolling down the Main Street, bought a sweet treat from one of the little shops and relaxed in Libby Park. Love this town! Unbelievable to think how relatively close you are to the megalopolis of Los Angeles, yet you feel as though you are on a completely different planet up here. Small one-horse town that gallops a slow yet leisurely friendly pace. Felt really nice to me.

Need to come back and check out one of the MANY Day Spas as well as get in some quality horseback riding time! Until we meet again, Ojai!
